Cookie policy
This site uses as few cookies as possible. Analytics cookies stay off unless you choose "Accept analytics", and you can change your mind at any time. Last updated 24 October 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, work in the same way, so this policy covers them too. Some are needed for the site to work. Others, like analytics cookies, need your permission first.
What this site uses
| Name | Set by | What it does | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
jd-consent, jd-consent-t | This website (local storage) | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics cookies, and when. | 12 months, then I ask again | Strictly necessary |
jd-quiz, jd-draft | This website (session storage) | Carries your quiz answers into the enquiry form, and keeps your answers if an enquiry fails to send. | When you close the tab | Strictly necessary |
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells visits apart, so I can see how many people use the site. | 2 years | Analytics, only with consent |
_ga_BKN6T0T16N | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit. | 2 years | Analytics, only with consent |
How analytics works here
The site uses Google Tag Manager to manage Google Analytics. Before anything else loads, the site tells Google that consent is denied (Google Consent Mode). The Google Analytics tags are set to wait for your consent, so they don't run, and no analytics cookies are set, until you choose "Accept analytics". Tag Manager itself doesn't set cookies.
If you accept, Google Analytics records things like the pages you view, roughly where you are (town or region), your device and browser, and how you found the site. I use it to see which pages are useful and whether the enquiry form is working, never to identify you. Advertising and personalisation features are switched off. Google's own privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
If you change your mind and reject analytics, the site stops Google Analytics and deletes its cookies.
What this site doesn't use
No advertising, retargeting or social media tracking cookies. Links to Instagram are ordinary links and set nothing until you click them.
Changing your settings
Use the button (also at the bottom of every page) to accept or reject analytics at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site still works without them.
