Garden Design & Stewardship

Bespoke Garden Designin Bristol & the South West

Jack Dicks is a Bristol-based garden design practice working across London, Bristol, Bath and the wider South West. I design gardens that are exciting, immersive and most importantly, these gardens change the way you live.

I offer a full range of outdoor design services: from complete garden design and landscape design, through to bespoke planting design and garden advice. I’m not redesigning your garden so you can relax & host friends outside. I am creating a nature-filled ecosystem that does all of the hosting for you. Whatever the scale or scope, every project begins with careful listening and ends with a space you’ll never want to leave.

I bring a distinctive design perspective to each project, one shaped by academic training in biology, the experience of a gardener and a rigorous approach to design.

Selected Work

A selection of recent garden design projects from across London, Bristol, the Cotswolds and the South West. Each garden is designed for the people who use it every day.

A 6 acre ecological landscape design project in Wiltshire. A biodiverse chalk land ecosystem to balance wilderness with a growing family. Sensitive materiality not only works in the favour of planning applications in this AONB but creates an atmospheric space the clients will never want to leave.

In the heart of Montpelier, Bristol, you will find a magical and unexpected hazel woodland. The client wanted to feel like she had stepping into the countryside which was achieved with a wildflower meadow and meandering paths through the woodland. Endorsed by a BBC Secret Garden executive producer, this urban sanctuary is now home to rare bird's-nest orchids, hedgehogs and many invertebrates rarely found in the city.

This Montpelier townhouse garden was built to complement an interior renovation. It features a level threshold for seamless inside-out living. The space integrates an expansive entertainment patio and an outdoor shower within an immersive, shaded sanctuary packed with exciting planting combinations, bold winter structure, and year-round colour.
