The Client and site - Young couple, two whippets and lots of people using and enjoying the garden. South-west facing. Inner-city Bristol. 5×12m.
The Problem - With renovation works being undertaken in the house, the clients needed an outdoor space to match. A busy household that needed a flexible space to hosts dinner parties and gatherings. Large trees took all the sun from this south-west facing garden. No excitement or mystery.
The Design - A large, functional terrace build with a level threshold to the house. It really is an extension of the kitchen creating one big space. Working as an intimate coffee or work space, a large party terrace or somewhere to dine in the evening sun. A bespoke office/shed built using the existing brick wall divides the garden creating mystery. Abundant and immersive planting makes this a serene inner city sancutary.
